That's a fair point.

The only example of online-only high quality video I can think of is the stuff from www.revision3.com

Since pandora.com shut down to Canada I'd been looking for a replacement. I went through a few sites like pandora that weren't as good but lately I've settled on www.thesixtyone.com . It's all indie music and the vast majority of the artists on the site don't seem to have albums you could actually buy at a local record store. It's a great example of high quality music made mostly by independent artists without label backing that are banking on exposure through the web.

As I point out in the previous post, mainstream media are trying to bring back those international barriers artificially. In some cases (mostly involving sales), we might just have to live with it. In others (Comedy Central), I think the market will eventually work its way out.

In either case, we're talking about mainstream media content: commercial music, network television, Hollywood movies etc.

Most new media content (designed primarily for the web) is still open to all.

the majority of content is available to Canadians as much as Americans?

Then why can't I access pandora.com? Why won't I be receiving sms updates from twitter anymore? Why can't I access all the stuff on iTunes? Why can't I stream stuff from netflix? Why does comedy network lock me out?

Sorry, but the Americans have us beat in terms of access to online content and the gap is only going to grow wider for the forseable future.
