Montreal Geography Trivia No. 36

Where is this and what is its purpose?

UPDATE: Karine gets it right below, it's a sound barrier along Autoroute 25. Specifically, along Currateau St., whose homes unfortunately face this eyesore in exchange for some auditory peace.

That is the Partition wall they built in 1995

Is that the sound wall to lessen noise impact from Highway 15 in the St. Laurent borough? I believe it goes along some small residential streets that are parallel to Dudemaine Street...if that's not the right place, I'd still be willing to bet it's a sound wall. Looks very similar to the one I described.

  • JoLalo says:

Wall to prevent sound from the highway to nearby neighbourhood which has been alongside the highway for more than 20 years without complaining.

Where? It could be anywhere, Fagstein. It is one of the generic highway soundblocking wall that could be on the 15 as much as it could be in my 'hood on the 25 in eastern Montreal.

  • Karine says:

This looks like the sound wall that protects the Anjou residents that live east of the 25.

  • Patrick Lagacé says:

    East Berlin, circa 1981.

  • Karine says:

Huzzah, I finally got one right!
