The world of professional sports is a completely different story. Players are trained not to say anything of substance (because when they do speak their minds, they're punished), and are too busy actually playing their sports to think of how to analyze it 30 seconds after the end of a period.

You also forget the ridiculous media circus around sports. A friend of mine pointed out how funny that sports reporters love to interview players in between breaks to ask "What happened out there?" if something went bad. It's always followed by some generic comment of "Well, we tried our best out there, and uh, we'll try to keep it that way." Truly dizzying intellects.

As long as the media keeps feeding the egos of celebrities to attract readers and viewers, this circus of useless information will keep going. Either way, what goes on in the entertainment industry is purely subjective. Everyone has their own opinion, so why should we listen to the so-called experts who have already edited theirs? I believe that new media is breaking down that barrier and letting go of the "experts" and giving way to some smart and unfiltered commentary.
