Well, where else would they put all the programming they get from ESPN2 anyways?

I walked into a sports bar the other day, and Sportsnet was showing a Fox Sports Net feed, the Score was showing an ESPN feed, TSN was showing a Versus feed, and TSN2 was showing something from ESPN2.

Wow, talk about Canadiana!!!

That's the idea, really: focusing on that sweet spot between 8pm and 10pm Eastern, when you might have NHL hockey, NFL football, CFL football and other sports all at the same time. The 10% limit allows them to have an NHL game's worth of distinct programming for about six days every week.

Last night it was original: curling on 1, NHL on 2. I think that "10%" may end up seeming like much more, since it'll fall in that sweet spot on evenings and weekends when the time slots are in demand.

Well, i thought TSN2 was airing other things, thanks for clearing this out.

... and i'm left disappointed. I really thought it would air "original" programming, but 90% of the same thing, that's sofa king wrong...

I guess TSN is one of those things that'll come in handy when there's a conflict and one of their properties gets bumped. There's been a few times when I wished I had it, so thanks for the news.

They're not really selling it as a time-shifting network, although that's what it is for 90% of the time. They're getting people hooked by airing live coverage of different events on TSN and TSN2 when the two are simultaneous.

Why not record your show from TSN, and watch it later? Do you really need a channel that offers a delay of its main station? It's just more clutter on the TV dial.

TSN2 is a Godsend for people like me who work shifts and get home at 9AM, so we can watch the 6AM Sportscentre repeat right before going to bed.
