Found Ted at 103.7 FM and now only listen to real radio not the garbage Astral puts out. Astral as ruined every radio station they have bought including Z104 in Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu.

As I wrote previously, Ted Bird was the one who wanted Stock to join CHOM in the first place (though, obviously, not as a replacement). If he's at home laughing, it's because his kids are tickling him.

If the creative difference that Ted had related to how bad PJ Stock is at being a radio person, then I can see why he "quit". I'd certainly not want my name associated with PJ's dead-weight. He's aweful and I can only picture Ted listening at home and laughing. Exit sinking ship to the left. The only bad part is that Ted (a thespian) was traded for a used puck-bag. When PJ speaks, I envision an ashtray full of butts.

If I were still listening to CHOM, I would be over the moon that Ted Bird is gone! But I listen to Mike FM and have done so for the last 3 yrs in the morning/afternoon. I use to like Bird & his jokes but I found that over the yrs he had become cynical, arrogant, condescending and just plain not funny. The only funny part of his Bird dropping was John Moore's take on it. Kudos go to who ever booted Kim Rossi off the air! My husband could not stand her and said she was pretentious and I agree, but I did like her Mom :-) I love Bad Pete but can't stand the repetitive crap they dish out at CHOM. You can almost set your watch to the hour/song each day. As is I will continue to keep my dial on Mike FM except for the 10am-3pm slot unless I want to listen to what Marie has to say, and most days I don't :-D

If you read my post properly you will see that i refer to his on air persona.......NOT his "pay at the cash" one.
If he`s the nice polite guy you say he is then that just makes his on air "character" even more plastic.
Why not be the REAL Pete instead of putting up the ridiculous charade of trying to sound "hip" and "groovy man"

Montréal, January, 14-2010.

Good evening to all of you out there at CHOM ,

Well, with all of these recent changes at the best radio station ever, except for those black years, back in the 90's, not to mention the times of master of sh..head stern himself (no S) no mistake, when CHOM went "roll and rock", I do wish that the station stays what it is best : a ROCK AND ROLL station.

I've been a CHOM fan since the 70's when it first went on the air and though I was pretty discusted when you let us the fans down way back, I kept the dial at 97.7.

Mind you, I wasn't listening to CHOM because you were best, I was listening because you were not as bad as the other stations, I mean, man, you were so boring, playing Paul Piché's "Ya pas grand-chose dans le ciel à soir" at 12 past midnight every Saturday night. It never failed every week. I just couldn't beleive it! And that is a fact that I remember so well. I used to cursed you black and blue!
And it was true: not much at CHOM ever! Paul Piché my God!

But when I heard the good news that you had come to your senses, early 2002, I think ' I was just so happy because as someone from CHOM used to say : Rock and roll or get out of the way! And you did!

Play ROCK! Play it and play it loud for Christ sake!

Find the right person for the morning show or leave it as it is:

Bad Pete and Chantal or Bad Pete and Desjardins.

Thank you for being there.

CHOM Rocks!

Your forever 64 yars old fan:

Montreal radio has finally bitten the dust this week....The style that we all grew up with and continued listened is now gone...There was George..Ralph...Gord..Terry...Patti...and now Ted...they were and still are what Montreal radio was about...We had our own unique style far from our US counterparts and from down the 401 and beyond...We have now become real "commercial" radio..Ted was right when he said the "family creativeness" is no longer part of Montreal radio..Good luck Ted...keep well and hope to hear form you soon!

Oh...Astral, Corus, please dig out the old archive tapes and give them a listen..They may be passé, but it was "REAL" radio!

CHOM FM has become todays real world WKRP with "very bad Pete" playing the role of Johnny Fever..........a wannabe who never was. He is stuck in the past with his tired and boring lexicon and totally out of touch with the stations intended demograph.
His introduction of Chantal as a "cool rock chick" was embarrassing and cringeworthy. His cliche riddled commentary on anything he discuss`s insults the listeners intelligence.
Anyone remember Billy Crystals discussion with his station manager in City Slickers? As they discussed an irritating advertising jingle Crystal developed.......... "whats wrong with it?"........................."it makes people want to change the station"...........thats Marier

What is it with this little town? Good, bad... the man quit. Now move on. When teams get mixed and matched because members leave, chemistry is hard to maintain. But it's time to shift out of the past anyway. Astral buying CHOM did it a favour, not a disservice. The previous regime dictated that the station run a strict playlist of a few hundred tunes, nothing else. How democratic! I love the music mix since the change. Tunes you never would have heard before. Pete's a good radio man. Get on board! CHOM is still the same ol' CHOM in so many positive ways. Ted's okay. He'll definitely get a job in another station. The town is just that small. - Peace

Steve, I'm just curious why my comments to you, basically calling you out about posting the initial erroneous story claiming that Bird had been fired seems to have been deleted from the list of 67 "Comments" received by you about this story.
