As any other puppets living on the Plateau Mont-Royal, she seems strongly opposed to any voices given on the right side of the table where only feminist, leftist, progressist ideologies should have free speech. Probably another Red Square's Fan at Parti Quebecois!!!

What I think RNC fails to realize is that the station transcends ages, languages and political beliefs.

How will realizing that make it profitable?

I just might be the only 25 year-old who supports the intervention of 91.9's format switch. It's sad that Montreal will be left with no 24/7 jazz station, yet we'll have countless top 40/adult soft rock/adult pop stations (they're all the same). How can Montreal purport to be a cultural hotbed without the representation of a diverse radio offering? What I think RNC fails to realize is that the station transcends ages, languages and political beliefs. I sincerely hope the CRTC blocks the switch of Montreal’s last great radio station.

I don't think any format there will be profitable unless serious cash is expended to fix the signal issues.

The signal is regulated by the CRTC and Industry Canada. Unless there's something wrong with the transmitter, money isn't the main issue.

Oh I know the snippets are real as is their rep which doesn't cater to urban hipsters. But I have never heard anything that can be labeled as hate speech in its "real" form, as an arrestable offence. And let's face it, no one will be forced to listen to the station against their will. But let's take what I think is the bigger problem: the 91.9 signal. It's awful to the point where I don't think any format there will be profitable unless serious cash is expended to fix the signal issues.

Funny that I submitted a comment to the CRTC, while also being a regular reader of Fagstein! Thank you for this post Fagstein. I really have no issue with this Radio X, there just simply is little for me to listen to on the radio (I only switch from SRC's 95.1, to CBC's 93.5 Radio 2, and finally to Planète Jazz 91.9. I am very passionate about music, but also feel for the dedicated people would would eventually be losing their jobs (as they are, even though I realize they may be offered some other job in the process of the change in stations). Marc, you are right, it is indeed an emotional reaction, what other type of reaction would you expect? Fagstein: I chuckled when I read your subtitle about "Anglos" being upset to, haha! I'm actually a Montreal-born francophone. I read the original story about Planète Jazz through an anglo outlet that provided a link to the English version of the CRTC website, which is why I submitted in English. So maybe you should have another subtitle, because I'm a very upset bilingual guy! ;0)

I suspect you're right about the interventions. But the snippets of it posted online aren't made up. Radio X has a reputation, and I think it's exaggerated but not undeserved.

I suppose living in an echo chamber is so much better? If they think leftist trash talk radio doesn't exist, these folks haven't listened to 98.5 and Dutrizac in particular. The intervener you spotlighted is articulate and rational and is the type of intervention the CRTC should be listening to.
