And you forgot a big one that people won’t admit to.. OPPORTUNISTIC..
Opportunistic for businesses and corporations to cater to a group of individuals for strictly business purposes.
Opportunistic for media outlets to grab listeners. Opportunistic for politicians to pick up votes here and there.
Etc, etc I could go on and on.

But can anybody tell me why the lgbt parades have become like almost Halloween events or for guys to wear almost nothing.
I don’t thing being so-called “gay” means that..

BTW, Ever consider this ” political correctness can be a stifling impediment to free thinking ” just wondering..

I totally agree with your comment about the opportunist side of the celebration and will go a notch further to say that i never understood all the glitter in the parade for a group that just wants to blend in society…

But… these days with events around the world and close to us in the U.S. of A,it just proves how much we must support that chance to celebrate how opened we are about others coming from everywhere and being of every genre there are.

Because this is a look into their daily reality that we must see also. You have no problem when you are a white straight man . We tend to think that everything is fine and dandy except for the odd glitches here and there but one must instead wake up and see that YES IN 2017 intolerance rules and does not seem to be fading away au contraire. So let’ s just enjoy and put away our differences and prejudices. To just admit that somehow we still have some is a big and necessary step forward towards peace in our neck of the wood.

You appear to have missed the point of pride if you think their goal is to blend in. Also, very few people in the parade use glitter.

You missed my point ! Blend in , in the sense of having their place in society which they barely had when the pride movement started. Things have changed somewhat here but not everywhere with everybody in any country…

Don’ t know if you see people dressed and undressed like this in everyday life but for me this is what i call glitter. I know. This is a parade. But to come back to the initial point when this movement was started ,it was difficult to see in all that extravaganza a sign of everyday occurrence…

Nice picture resumé by the way.

And my point is you don’t have to “blend in” to have a place in society.

Dressed like what? Most of these people are in T-shirts and shorts. The rest are in costume, which is what you have at a parade, whether it’s the St. Patrick’s parade or Canada Day or Carifiesta. And no one accuses people in those parades of not having a place in society.
