Why are the Impact only allowed 12 national games and the other teams have the whole schedule as national games?

The other teams also have their games split between national (those sold by MLS) and local (those sold by the team). But TSN is also the team broadcaster for both the Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC. Since the Canadian MLS teams don’t do regional blackouts, there’s no difference from a viewer’s perspective between regional and national games. Similarly on the French side, TVA Sports is now both the Impact’s regional and MLS national broadcaster, so all Impact games will be in French on TVA Sports.

I’m just glad that some of the games are on CTV. I dropped cable for an indoor digital antenna. I only watch sports that make it to CTV, CBC and global
