TheComedyNetwork.ca has launched a new user-generated-content vehicle called Upload Yours to get random people to upload their own videos (kicking it off with Debra DiGiovanni, who CP says is from a show called “Video on Trail”).
Hey, you know what would make a really funny video? Having someone from Canada try to watch a clip from the Daily Show and his reaction at seeing the image above.
Someone should do that.
The worst part is: when you try to find a video on the Comedy Network it either brings you to a player where you can’t re-size from it’s teeny tiny default, or to a player with a tendency to skip to a random part of a random show after commercial breaks. How hard can it be to play all the parts of a video in sequence?
It’s minorly ennoying, but it’s not that bad. You just go to the canadian website and it’s right there. If you insist on seeing it on comedy central (or if you want to use the amazing pandora.com) just download hotspot shield.
Except if you want to watch archived clips of the Colbert Report or Daily Show. The websites for those shows have a complete archive of the entire series, but the Comedy Network only has the most recent episodes.
Even if the clip exists at the Comedy Network site. You have to go there and find it again. It’s stupid and it breaks the Internet.
The Comedy Network’s UploadYours site sez “Upload, watch, and interact with the best and worst comedians that Canada has to offer.” They also use a baitline: “You never know, the best stuff may make it on TV. ” Ooooooh, TV….and you might even get discovered and become a STAR…a SUPERSTAR even. The truth is there is no real “interaction” with anyone at the Comedy Network’s UpLoadYours website. I mean, sure you can “interact” with all other arseholes who were stupid enough to uploaded their videos by voting for their video but that can hardly be described as “interacting”. The site is less than lame and if you are a REAL comedian or a REAL comic writer who put time and effort into your work my advice is to stay the hell away!! It is an untrustworthy website that tells you very little about itself, or it’s purpose. They have a FAQ section (you have to look for it) that does nothing more than tell you how to upload your original videos. That’s it! That’s all! It’s like, “give us your videos and then fuck off with your stupid frequently asked questions”. They have no forums section, and no way for you to delete a video once you upload it. Simply put, once you upload a video, it’s theirs to do with whatever they choose. They even tell you that in the terms and conditions. It’s a site that offers you nothing but the opportunity to allow the hacks at the comedy network to profit off your work, and to steal your jokes. Once you upload your video, it’s theirs! They should be ashamed of themselves. Below is only part one of what you are agreeing to when you upload your original work to the Comedy Network’s, UploadYours website.
