The alternative St. Patrick’s Parade awards

Sunday was the annual St. Patrick’s Parade. While most people stand and watch the fun floats and pipe bands and dance troupes, officials at the reviewing stand near the end of the parade take notes so they can hand out awards later.

That’s great and all, but I don’t care about which is the best media entry (it’s CHOM, they have a live band, though Virgin gets an honourable mention for the Pink Pony Club theme). So here are some alternative awards from the media personalities who walked and waved through downtown:

What was your camera, and were you standing on a platform?

Why so much media [in TEENS?Y TEXT ] coverage by you? Is that a requirement by the Gazoo?

Very Irish-Canadian (with a queer dash of Chappell Roan, I guess).

I’m guessing Mr. Makos still has a Tesla.

And shame on Global Montreal for not coming out to the parade. They should be tarred and feathered for not contributing to Montreal civic life.

Global Montreal represented the media and celebrated the Irish community by participating in the Hudson St Patrick’s Day Parade the day before on Saturday.

I’m just a (non-Irish) outsider who hasn’t been to a St. Patrick’s Day parade in years.
I had no idea that it was such a notable publicity event/opportunity for the local media.
It looks like everyone had a jolly green time! Wonderful set of photos!

You didn’t t need to make the St. Patrick’s Day parade about language. But you did. Just when I was having fun taking in your parade pics. I thought CKOI’s van with balloons looked cool. CKOI got the parade memo but not other francophone media. There are four communities represented on in the City of Montreal flag and one of them is the shamrock of Ireland. The Irish had a particularly difficult time crossing the Atlantic to Montreal where they were dying from the fever. Many of them sick on ships were not allowed to dock at the port of Montreal.
Great photos, Steve. I like the pink Irish look.
